Why ETGI
Energy choices are becoming more complex while evidence remains fragmented across academic research, industry analysis, policy documents and market studies. ETGI is being built to translate that evidence into clearer decision logic.
We start with what a technology can and cannot do: performance, cost, scalability, infrastructure needs and deployment constraints.

ETGI is being developed as an independent, nonpartisan, expert-led institute focused on one practical problem: how to make better decisions about energy technologies in increasingly complex systems.

Positioning
ETGI is designed to complement established international organizations, universities, technical associations and implementation groups rather than duplicate them.
Technology-centered, interdisciplinary and decision-oriented. It connects engineering, systems, markets, finance, policy and governance around specific questions.
ETGI does not begin with a preferred technology or ideology. Its role is to evaluate fit, trade-offs, constraints, risks and governance requirements.
Independence
ETGI’s long-term value depends on transparent governance and the ability to publish conclusions that are not controlled by a sponsor, technology vendor or political position.
Analysis should remain focused on evidence, trade-offs and decision conditions rather than political alignment.
No single energy technology is treated as the answer in every context; claims are assessed against system conditions and alternatives.
Funding principles, conflict disclosures and sponsor boundaries should be made public as the institute formalizes.
ETGI is currently in formation. The first website is intended to establish a transparent public foundation; formal registration in Türkiye is planned as the next institutional step.

Münür S. Herdem is an interdisciplinary energy researcher whose work connects energy conversion technologies, system integration, performance evaluation and energy technology governance. His research spans clean hydrogen and ammonia, electrification, storage, smart energy systems, AI- and data-enabled energy systems, and the technical and governance conditions that shape deployment. He founded ETGI to create a practical bridge between engineering evidence and strategic energy decisions.
Advisory Board
Advisory members provide intellectual guidance, occasional feedback and strategic perspective. They are not responsible for day-to-day management of ETGI.
His work focuses on mathematical optimization for complex engineering and electricity-system decisions, including optimal power flow, renewable integration, energy storage and smart grids.

With more than four decades of nuclear-sector experience, his work spans reactor safety and design, nuclear education, workforce development, regulation and international collaboration.

His research examines the social, institutional and technological dimensions of energy transitions, with a focus on human-centered energy futures, governance and public values.
